Dragica Cvek Jordan was born in 1940 in Trnava, Croatia. A childhood spent in the picturesque and peaceful Moslavina has helped shape her artistic sensibility. Her school days in Zagreb, first contact with the work of old masters and contemporary artists, were significant for her future development as a painter. From 1960 – 1964 she studied at the Art Academy in Zagreb graduating from the class of prof. Miljenko Stancic, one of the great Croatian painters. A trip to Paris and London where she saw Goya’s paintings was decisive for Dragica Cvek’s style which has matured over the years as she developed in terms of both personal and artistic growth. Her numerous and succesful exhibitions and critical acclaim, both in Croatia and abroad, confirm that Dragica Cvek-Jordan’s highly individual and sophisticated idiom is close to the sensibility of contemporary man.
