Josip Bukal was a new-day exponent of Art Nouveau as the prints in our collection show. Here, his serigraphs show portraits of women in profile with floral motives in pastelcolored decorative patterns. He has incorporated the of title of each print into the print itself and so they are called “Rainbow”, “Spring”, “Neille” and “Tristan and Isolde”. Many artists of the 19th century used a similar style in the spirit of Aubrey Beardsley in their creations of posters for various musicals of the time
