Biography

Sanja Rešček was born in Zagreb in 1978. After graduating from the School of Applied Arts, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, winning the Deans Award and the the Award for Best Graduating Student 2001. In competition with forty-seven renowned artists, Sanja won the Grigor Vitez Award for best illustrator of children’s books in Croatia for the year 2003. Winner of the Welcome Award given by the Association of Visual Artists of Croatia and the Award given by the public at Interliber Fair in Zagreb. More than twenty-five of her picturebooks have been published so far in Croatia, Switzerland, Great Britain, Canada and the United States. She has also contributed many illustrations for magazines such as Elle, Viva, Večernji list… The Croatian Post Office awarded her 1 st Prize eleven times for postage stamp design including the stamp in honor of Pope, John Paul II. Sanja has participated in fiftheen group exhibitions and three one-man shows. Trident Graphics has published her first two original, silk-screen, limited edition prints „Summer Afternoon“ and „My Neighbour’s Cat“.
